So I have found the thread regarding auto updating the front end and applied it to my database. However, when the users hit ok, it deletes the existing file and instead of opening the new version they get the following error message, "Windows cannot find C:\Users\...\Desktop\MPL. make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

It works perfect on my pc.

I have the backend saved to our server and the master file on my pc in a shared network folder. The users open the master file which asks them to save as a local file, but when they update it, it deletes it and shoots that error. Can someone point me in the direction to troubleshoot this or maybe you've seen this and know the solution. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

.

I understand Backend, but what is this exactly
the master file on my pc

Every user should have a copy of the operational/production Front end on their PC.

jdraw...the thread is called FRONT END Db DISTRIBUTION. When I say master file, it is the front end database created by the split where all the updates are made. I'll make the update, change the version number and save it. I call it the master file because in the utility it states, "Select Location where you will store your Front-End Master"

Understood. The Front-End Master is the latest official, authorized version of the Front End.
There are several front end autoUpdater programs discussed in various forums.
Typically, the Master is Updated and placed on a server/shared location.
When a PC opens the Front end currently on the user machine, it checks its version number with that on the server/shared location. If the version numbers match, just carry on. However, if the version numbers don't match, there is often a routine invoked to copy the "official" front end from the server/shared location to the local PC. The old version on the PC is deleted and replaced with the latest "official" version.
Some logic as to the location of the Front end on the local PC is necessary.
I would expect this location to be a parameter in the utility. I would not have users typing in such a file path based on experience with typos etc.

Good luck.
