Good day,

Here's a functionality I'd really like, but cannot find much in the way info about it...

My database is almost always open by someone (7/24 support operation). I'd like to generate and run reports on a nightly and weekly basis without any intervention by end users. Are there commands that can help out with this... Ie, to check the time, dates etc?

Many thanks,

Al

Use a hidden form and its OnTimer event to run your reports. Set the form "Timer Interval" to the frequently check the date and time to see if it's time to run the report. Setting the Timer Interval to one day's worth of milli-seconds will not not necessarily run the report at a specific time of day, it will be in elapsed time.

Another option, particularly if more than one user may have the app open (and thus the reports may run more than once) would be to create a separate app that ran these reports on start up and then closed itself down. Then open that app in task scheduler on one PC on the appropriate schedule.

Two valid options...

Both ideas are good. The app is always open, but not on the same machine, so I'll have to do some thinking. I like the second idea too... maybe I could have the scheduler run on the back end server. It's just a windows 2k machine. Thanks for the ideas.
