Question Back compatability issues with 2007 opening 2003 DB

I have an access 2003 DB that is deployed across a medium sized business, unfortunately we need to purchase new computers and they will come with vista and office 2007

Has anyone had any issues with running access 2003 databases with access 2007?

Any info would be greatly appreciated as I would much rather avoid than fix a problem!

that way should work fine I haven't had a problem using my 03 in 07.
However the other way round is a pain - you will need to 'save as' 03 database.

Seems to work fine for me. The only issue I have is that I can't find anything in 2007. Also, there is a "security" issue in 2007...macros (i.e. anything you want to work) are turned off by default in 2007.

The macro issue is big. I have also found another issue. If you have a form with a tabs, and the tabs are set to "transparent" so that they pick up the background of the form, for me what it did was show the background of the background. Not the background of the form itself. Very weird.

What I ended up doing was since most of the computers were running access 2003, and we had very few 07 versions, was I installed runtime 2003 on the 07 machines for the time being. So I could properly work out the kinks in 03 database running in 07. The link above has some great tips!

Thanks for the heads up, the macro issue might be a problem as my current DB has quite a few!

I suppose im going to have to push ahead and deal with the issues as they arise

One thing that will help a lot with A2007 is to create a trusted directory on the network and also trust sub folders. Put all your databases in this directory path to get around the problem of them having to be authorized each time you open them. Otherwise, you'll need to go out and buy a certificate so you can digitally sign all your databases.

This isn't fixed with a self-signed certificate, I presume?

That reminds me as well- last year or so, there was thread here cautioning about weird bugs and incompatibilities in using A2007 with 2003 databases, which the specifics escapes me now.. Those has been fixed as well?

I would think that SP1 would have done so but I'm not sure what the exact problems were and all. Maybe someone will find that post and then we can check.
