Hello,

I am trying to create a bar graph that shows income, month, and year. I created a graph using the chart wizard, an it almost came out the way I need it to. I have the statistics on the left hand side, the year(s) on the legend on the right hand side and the months along the bottom axis. However the months are sorted alphabetically , as opposed to chronologically. I tried correcting the sort in the query using the invoice date to sort, but it does not carry through to the chart. I also tried changing the query through the properties of the chart, and I wound up with the year(s) on the bottom axis and the months on the legend on the right side. Is there a way to correct this and still have the months listed across the bottom axis?

Hello everyone,
I posted the above thread a while back and no one responded. I supposed it was because no one had an answer. In the mean time I figured it out and want to share with anyone else who has the same problem.
1) Create a crosstab query that shows the data the way you want it displayed.
2) Create a select query with the basic info used to create the crosstab query. The chart wizard creates it's own crosstab query no matter what you do, so use the select query to create the basic chart.
3) When the chart is created, go to design view. You will not see the actual chart in design view, but will see a default chart with your title on it. If you want to see your chart in design view, you will have to create it as a form, not a report.
4)Right click on the chart to view the properties.
5) Under the Row Source property, choose the crosstab query you created in the begining.
6) Exit properties, and right click again and choose Chart Object > Edit. You should see the datasheet view of the chart.
7) On the above menu bar choose and click By Row.
8) Preview your chart. The actual chart will now show months as displayed in your crosstab query, but the graph will show the title as created by the chart wizard initially.

I hope this helps someone.

Hi, rbrule
I am interested in how to create a graph (bar or pie something) in my report for statistics. I wonder how do you get the control of graph dragged into the report. i am using MS-ACCESS 2002. does it include this feature, I believe so just don't know where?
thanks.

Hi xili,
In design mode, click on the insert button on the top menu bar and choose "chart".
