Hello!

I recently bought Access for Dummies and have a basic understanding of how Access works. However, when I try to create queries, they don't return what I'm trying to accomplish. There is a breakdown somewhere so that's why I'm here!

I'm from the Cincinnati area and am an excel poweruser.

I have used Access for many things since around 1990 but have only ever used Excel for the simplest of tasks.

It has been said that Access and Excel are very different. Access tables are usually long and narrow but worksheets tend to be short and wide.
I would advise any new user to read about table design, normalization and relationships.

Anyway, can you tell us a bit more about the problem you having.
Perhaps you could tell us:
What the query returns and how this is different from your requirement.
Show us the SQL statement of the query of even post a copy of the db
