My favourite books are:
Access Cookbook (O'Reilly) - although many suggestions in there have now been incorporated into access. Easily my most used book while learning Access properly
Alison Balter's Access books (mine was mastering access 2000 - it's the principle rather than the detail. )
VBA developer's Handbook (again, an old version used as a reference)
DAO Object Model (O'Reilly reference)
