best way to set up a network connection

I have a small access database that my users keep open all day long. Access 2000.

I have one primary version of the DB on the network. No one uses it. I have another file on the network that has linked tables to the primary db. I copy a version of this DB to each workstation.

So each user has a full blown DB on their desktop with linked tables back to the main DB. Is this a good set up or are there any issues doing this? What is the best set up for multiple users across the network? Thanks.

the copy per workstation is best as i believe in the NEED TO KNOW theorum and i found that it is best to give end users their own interface to target their area to a main database. that way they cant mess up absolutely everything.

funny thing I had never heard of any of that (fe vs be) but that is how I have my system set up. The only thing I see wrong with my set up is I have all of the same queries, forms, and reps in my BACK END too. No one really accesses them, but they are there. funny.

The reason I ask to begin with is the Front End databases seem slow. When I open the DB it opens a startup form with buttons to all reports, forms, and queries commonly used. When my user clicks a button it can take up to 30 seconds to open that form, report, or query. Data entry seems very fast after it is open, but why would it take upto 30 seconds just to open a report ect...
