I am going out to buy a book on MS Access 2010. Any suggestions on the best one out there.

Hi,

I would be silly not to recommend my own book on Access 2010, but the best book for you really depends on what you want to learn about and the type of writing style you like to read.

There is a lot of material that can be covered in the Access 2010 product. When you add a completely new server element (Access Services) to an already complex product like Access, the question of what to present and how deep you go into each subject can be tough.

My book, for the most part, covers everything in the product in some detail. However, some topics are only covered briefly while others are covered in more depth. It's a delicate dance of trying to figure out which topics should be covered more deeply. Which topics, for example, would readers want to know more detail about? How much information is too much? Too little?

There are other good books out there on the market that cover Access 2010. Some are like mine and cover the product spectrum while others are geared more towards specific areas. My suggestion would be to go down to local bookstore and take a glance over the various options. See which book covers the topics you want to study, what writing style you gravitate to, and then purchase that one.

Good luck with your study of Access 2010.

If Access 2010 Inside/Out is as good as Access 2007 Inside/Out, I would say GET IT! But yes, you should check out a few. Amazon actually has previews you can check out chapters of books, so perhaps you should take a look there.

I noticed that the 2007 version is available on Kindle. Has anyone seen this version and how does it convert to ebook?

Haven't seen it in Kindle or ebook but I do own the 2007 version and that's why I posted what I did. The book is great. It is good for starting people but also for more experienced developers. It has a wealth of good reference material as well.

Jeff what is the full title of your book, and it available at most book stores?

Jeff,
Thanks for the info. I have inside and out 2007. It was helpful, but never was able to access the disc.

Hi,

Jeff,
Thanks for the info. I have inside and out 2007. It was helpful, but never was able to access the disc.

I've had similar reports from time to time. Unfortunately I have no control over how the CD was packaged.

In almost every case, I was able to unblock the person and have them install the sample files by navigating to the Sample Files folder on the CD using Windows Explorer, right-clicking on the setup.exe file, and then choosing the option to "Run As Administrator."

Can you try that for me and let me know if the sample files install OK then?
If that still doesn't work, post back because I have another option that should definitely work too. I'd hate to see you not be able to access the files. Let me know.

Thanks,
