I am very green at using access and in desperate need of fertilizer.

I've taken courses in the fall (levels 1 through 4) and this is my first real world project.

The company I work for has several DB in use and the original author no longer works here. I've been asked to make some modifications. I've been coming to this site to read up and learn some tips and trick since my instructor in Level 2 gave us the web site and I've found it most helpfull.

Here's my problem #1...

It's a DB to track projects. I've added an EstimateHours field, PeriodHours field and ExpendedHours field. I've set it up to that when the period hours are entered in the form it is automatically added to the expended hours and it works execpt if the expended hours is blank. I've made sure the field is defulted to 0. I've copied the code from another DB and everything looks correct.

Problem #2...

On the form I have an object to show the hours remaining. I just want to subtract the expended hours from the estimate hours. I don't want to store it, just show it but I can't seem to get that to work either.

I hope I've given enough information.

Thanks for your consideration.

Can you post a sample so I can take a look at it?

The front end queries, forms & reports are in a seperate .mdb file form the back end tables which are linked in.

How do I attach a sample without sending the entire files which are large? Can I seperate out just the form and the table for the hours?

(Can you tell I'm new here?)

How big are the files once zipped.

If you know the names of the forms and the tables/queries that they are based on. Import those into a fresh database. Then zip 'em up.

I've tried to attach a sample but even zipped it is still too big. I paired it down as much as possible.

I can email it directly if you provide me with an email address.
