Cannot open report/subreport

I was working on subreport (Access 2003 or 2007). Everything was ok. Then suddenly it does not open anymore neither in design nor in preview. Instead a pop-up appears: "There isn't enough memory to perform this operarion. Close unneeded programs ...".
The data source for the subreport is a local table populated from SQL server procedure.
I cannot import it to another table - all the same pop-up.

sounds like it has become corrupted. Trying compacting first of all, if that doesn't work then revert to a recent backup.

If you don't have a recent backup, trying creating a new subreport and copy each control across one at a time together with any backing code

You can also try the SaveAsText and LoadFromText routines which sometimes works

Application.SaveAsText acReport,YourReportName, FilePath & ".txt"
Application.LoadFromText acReport,FilePath & ".txt", YourReportName,
