Can't copy a form

In A2010 I maintain a database originally created in A2003. The original version was locked down tight. In A2010 I struggled to do the same but got there in the end, as well as allowing me a back door way in.

Now I have an unexpected problem - in the object browser (or whatever it's called) on the left hand side I can no longer copy any object. EG, I want to copy a form for safe keeping while I edit the original.

Can anyone help please - I suspect it may be connected with the above mentioned locking down but I can't work it out.

Does it behave the same way when you break into it?
If you can't copy it, can you export it into some temp database OR if the database is split, just make a copy of the front end as a back up

Not sure what you mean in your first sentence. The object browser is only visible once I have provided a backdoor password which takes me into what I believe to be full design mode, but turns out not to be quite right. And that's the problem.

Yes I can copy it away and fetch it back it just seems like a long winded step, and in any case it shouldn't be necessary

I don't think you can copy a object/form in the Project Explore, this you have to do from the database window.

When the database is locked down, are all the menus/toolbars disabled, if so try restoring them before you try to copy an object. It does sound like you don't have any mouse right-click options which stems from menus/toolbars being in a disabled state.

When the database is locked down there are no ribbons or menus visible. When it is unlocked they all appear. When it's unlocked I can right click on forms and tables etc, I can rename them, I can export them and so on. I can even select copy - but nothing happens

And that's the problem
