I don't think it's possible but if it is the you will need the [PictureField].FileData field from the source. I don't do Word Merges so you could create a new thread re this.

If the images were not saved in an Attachment then it probably would have been possible.

Yeah that's what i found out to, so ill probably have to do it that way. I did start a new thread on that but no answers at all, Thats why i asked you.

Maybe you should just use a report for your merge instead.

I solved it so it works for me, i export the image to a tempFile and when the word doc opens the image inside word is linked to the tempFile name and updates directly So no need to export the file name to word and then have word update it again...
