Hello All,

I am converting some Access 2007 databases to SQL Server 2005. I understand that my forms will have to be recreated in ASP.net.

I am evaluating some software to help with the conversion. I would like to see if anyone has used anything that they really liked and why.

Another question on the different types of queries is it possible to use the SQL View SQL and transfer the statement to SQL Server 2005 or is it better to create a View?

What is your take on this?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I have been reviewing and surfing the web, I just like to gain some more insight from others.

Many thanks,

Kurt

This is not a TECHNICAL requirement, so it must be a User or Project Requirement. Access 2000, 2003, and 2007 (Not sure about earlier versions) all work fine using SQL Server type databases as a back end. Your Project requirements may be what is creating the need for ASP.net.

We used the SQL Server Migration Assistant to migrate about 40% of the queries to views. The rest are still presently under MS Access, since the back end conversion satisfied the users for now. Future plans include a Web Conversion, and something like PowerBuilder, PeopleSoft, JavaBuilder, or ASP.net will be needed when the time comes.

:eek:Hello,

Thanks for your reply and yes. It is a zoned architecture that I am dealing with that drives the need for the asp.net front end.

I have also heard of a conversion utility called ConvertU2. Does anyone have any experience with it. It comes highly recommended. Apparently SSMA lacks in all aspects of converting. It does some parts well and other parts it just lacks in.

Thanks,

Kurt
