Coronavirus - are we all doomed? (1 Viewer)

Fags means cigarettes in the UK. :ROFLMAO:
maybe I should start an American forum to compete with you then Jon! I was unaware. :/

A few years ago, I was describing something to an American friend of mine. I said I was walking down the alley and saw some pigeons pecking at some fag butts. She replied, "You mean some pigeons were pecking at a homosexuals ass?" All said with a twangy accent. I couldn't believe how misconstrued it was!

Yeah, I use all those, regularly!

Let me fix that for you.
didn't I add to that? America is not the biggest issue. the biggest issue is the human flaw that no one gets. and it is the reason why corporations do what they do, and why the poor people buy from them. same problem. different people.

Adam, I'm going to have to disagree with you.

America and capitalism is a serious disease,

No. The disease is greed or excessive desire for "stuff." That happens to work BEST in capitalism, but the real disease is the underlying human desire to hoard, to possess, to own. The reason why the Chinese government and the Russian government have both strayed towards economic capitalism is because communism or extreme socialism both have the same failure. They supply fewer people with the level of goods and services that those people really need, much less what they want.

I agree I suppose. but this points right back to the nastiness of corporate people to have anything and everything, which of course is bullshit. which is probably also why someone in Isreal hacked Jeff Bezos' phone!

I remember in my younger years meeting a girl from the UK at a bar. Spent a lot of time with her that evening and had a great time. At the end of the night she told me to "Knock her up in the morning" My excitement was short lived when I found out what that meant.

there's no doubt that it goes on all the time in this university town of ours. =(

Very positive news about an anti-malaria drug having a 100% cure rate on a small sample of caes. Trump is getting it available almost immediately in the US, by slashing regulations etc. Hopefully it works and will save us all! I hope the UK get that arse in gear and does the same.

Hi everyone ,
India , Apart being 2nd highest populated country & still economically devlopping , I thing we are still in good position in terms controlling the "community spreading" of this virus..
what are your views?

I hope you're right, but Italy is paying a heavy price for that very mentality.

Stay safe

Yeah you are right , (already ordered curfew against mass gatherings etc)
But in some report I read that Italy situation is worse due to high percentage of elders in the country?

Combination of factors actually. There IS a high number of elderly but I have no idea where the percentage is in relation to the rest of the world. The initial areas hit (Milan and Venice) are high tourist spots year round and a good number of tourists are Asian. Add to the mix the incredable amount of skint-to-skin contact and you have very good environment for this nasty virus to thrive.

They are taking it VERY seriously now and we are under the closet thing to martial law imaginable. Even us Americans stationed here are required to carry papers allowing us to commute to work. I have never experienced anything remotely close to this...

Yeah ...Even here in our office ...persons with slightest health upset are advised to take compulsory 5 days leave & if anyone found to return after attending a mass gathering are not even allowed inside the office .All these measures are even making the panic higher.

the panic is ridiculous at this point. =( good thing over here though, is that the Wal Mart stores' shelves are apparently re-stocked with products.
