Hi,

I would need some opinion. I have some access knowledge but it's just on the practical level.

I am creating this DB for my own personal usage. I sell stuff on the net and I keep tracks on them.

Some egs of fields will be

Item_number
Item_name
Sell_date
Sell_price
Sent_date
Other_charges
Postage_cost
Profit_loss
Buyer_ID
Buyer_email
Buyer_name
Buyer_address
Buyer_country

and so on

Currently I only have 2 tables
1) Main (almost 40 fields)
2) Country

I am trying to normalise this DB but can't figure out where to place fields like price, cost, dates etc

I could only figure out that I should have another table just for buyer details. However my main will still have 30+ fields.

Any good ideas to approach this?

Thanks for your time.

Hi eatnsleep,

From the look of your field examples, you could have another table to store Item details (item number, description, price, stock, etc). As you mentioned, customer details could also be stored seperately, and just about any other group of fields in tblmain that could be classed as a seperate entity. (Supplier details maybe?)

Hope this was useful

Take a look at the Northwind and Orders sample dbs that ship with Access, they should give you more of an idea.
