Hello,

I tried to search for this answer but could not find anything. My question is this. When I create a database for multiple users on my PC the formatting looks great. My properties on my desktop resolution is 1280 X 960 pixels. When I open the database on another users computer it looks completley different. The form is not centered in the middle of the screen, the use has to use scroll bars to get from one side of the form to the other.

My question is, is there any way I can set the form so that it looks the same on all PC's or is there no such option.

I am very miticulous about how my forms look and when I see other users with the form open and it does not look good I cringe!!!

Please help!!

When designing your forms, you should always design at the lowest resolution that your users will be using. The difference is in the screen resolution that some are using.

There are some utilities out there that can and will resize Access forms, but again the concept is that originally you would design your forms a the lower resolution, not the higher. You will need to do a google for them, as I don't want to recommend any specific one.

At least one of the utilities that I mentioned above allow you to try before you buy. You might give one or more of them a try to see if they would help.

Very interesting. I am going to change my properties to the lowest resolution and then reformat the form. Just curious but how does the formatting usual look if it is created in a low resolution then displayed on a person's pc with a high resolution?

Normally just smaller, unless you have things maximized. If you maximize forms then they will not look right either.

The one complaint that I get from time to time is that the forms (text, etc) are too small at a higher resolution. I am just completing a project for a client where I have used one of the form resizer utilities. It is not perfect, but in the case of my client, they are much happier with the forms resized then they were just using the forms as I created them at the lower resolution.

When it comes to how things look, I just try to satisfy the client. If they like it, I can live with it.

alternatively, pick a sensible resolution for your app - and design to that

test the res and inform the user if they are using an inferior resolution.

the trouble is, if you use a very low resolution, it can be difficult to fit everything on, and it becomes counter-productive.

Your problem, as has been stated, is with your Screen Resolution. Fixing this i s complicated, but fortunately, someone has already done the work for you! Go to this site and scroll down to the "Access Form Resizer" and download it. I've used it a number of times before, without problems, and best of all, it's FREE!

Also, as has been stated, you need to develop in the lowest possible resolution you're apt to run into.

Hi Guys,

A while ago I had followed missinglinq's advice and downloaded the "Auto Format" code.

I am having some issues with it where it does not always auto format. I am about to go live with a DB within my department and with my luck the auto-size module/function decided to stop working. I have had this issue in the past but usually if I copied and repasted it would work again. Does anyone have any suggestions? My forms look like poo without it on other users desktops!!!! HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!!
The code I have on the load event of the form is below.
PHP:
Private Sub Form_Load()
'resize form to fit the users pixel fomatting
ReSizeForm Me
'resize subform
ReSizeForm Me.Main_PIP_TBL_subform.Form
Dim DB As DAO.Database
Set DB = CurrentDb
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Me.PIP_Account = [Forms]![DD_Main_Client_Info]![Account_Search]
Me.Amount_PIP = ""
Me.PPM_Code_PIP = ""
Me.Pay_Date_PIP = ""
Me.Pay_Month_PIP = ""
Me.Starts_On_PIP = ""
Me.Ends_On_PIP = ""
Me.Funding_PIP = ""
SQL = "SELECT * FROM Main_PIP_TBL WHERE (((Main_PIP_TBL.Account)= '" & Me.PIP_Account & "'));"
Set rs = DB.OpenRecordset(SQL)
 Me.Main_PIP_TBL_subform.Form.RecordSource = SQL
rs.Close
End Sub
