We have a multi-user database that has a facility to kick all users out of the system when we are having system issues or need time to implement small urgent changes.

This functionality currently provides no warning to the users and therefore people can be in the middle of completing updates and lose them half way through.

Can you please advise on how to inplement either of the following (Whichever is the most sensible) either:

- Send out a warning screen to all users stating that the system will shutdown in 5 minutes and please complete work and log out.

Or

- When we click on the button to kick all users off this send out a warning with a 5 minute delay before completing the kick-out coding.

Thanks in anticipation

This seems to me that you have one copy of the Access database on a central server that ALL users log into. If this is the case you need to look at splitting up your mdb between front end back end. ie data tables only in your back end and everything else in your front end.

A copy of the front end is then deployed to all users. This will prevent you from having to log everybody out whilst development in ongoing. You can make your changes to the development copy and then release a new version after testing.

I am unsure how I would do this or if it would be possibly currently.

Is there any scope to just send out a message to all users informing them that the database will close in 5 mins?
