I have recently identified a need to start implementing Database Replication (A need to use the database on a laptop away from the server). The database was already split into BE/FE so I have installed the FE and a replica of the BE on the the laptop with the Laptop FE linking to its copy of the BE and then synchronising at regular intervals. Is this the best way of doing this in view of the fact that Replication is not supported in A2007 so I could be locking the system into A2003 for the foreseeable future.

What alternatives should I consider?

From what i have read it's only the ACCDB file format that can't replicate. MDB's can still be replicated and sync'd even in 2007, so Your solution should work just fine unless you want to move the database to ACCDB file format. (i'm not sure of the benefits the new file format provides & therefor unsure as to why one would want to move to the new format if they don't have to)

Thanks Guys. I was using A2007 as a shorthand way of referring to ACCDB format because thats how I think of it. Anyway this isn't an issue at present as most users are still on A2002XP. David Fenton's site was very helpful especially where he warns about the the less than accurate info that Microsoft put out about Replication.
