Hi

I have upgraded to Windows 7 from XP, and as part of that I backed up a 'program' that I have that uses Access to run.

When I put the folder back on my machine now, however, when I try to open the Access file it says Error 3027: Cannot update. Database or object is read only.

If I try to re-run the install procedure, it says that my operating system is not adequate to install.

Here is a link to the program files (external as max file size is 2mb). Does anyone know how I will be able to get this to work on Windows 7?

Many thanks in advance.

First order of business... when you copy a file it sometimes lands as Read Only. Right mouse on the file and remove the checkmark. Next, make sure to the file in My Documents or someplace other then your desktop.

What version of Access is this file written in? And what version of Access are you opening it in?

It hasn't been made read only in properties. It was written in Access 2003 and I am using Access 2010 on Windows 7.

Did you hold down the Shift Key until the database was open?

Yep, if I don't hold the shift key then I get the above error. As I said earlier, this was a program that I installed, but it is an Access file so I don't know if it has lots of security on it.

Have you tried downloading the link to the files I posted?

Okay, just opened aand you can't fix the References the file is an .MDE. File opens for me... Windows 7 64 bit. I put the file in a folder and extracted. Where did you put it?

I have tried opening it from program files and also my documents. I have attached an image of what I get when I try to open it.

So the file successfully opened for you, with a list of upcoming games in the body and options across the top to add extra games etc. ? How come it won't work for me?:confused:

Sugestion would be to download the one you sent to me and put it in My Document, unzip and try again. Because from what I can you have it in the Download folder. Also you are unzipping right? You aren't trying to opne it from within the zip file?

I tried opening it from within the documents folder, after downloading it. Yes I have extracted it beforehand; that's one thing I can do! :p

I'm confused as to why it would work on another machine? On my XP laptop, it opens fine but not on Windows 7.

As an update, I installed Access 2003 separately and can now open the MDE file. However, an error 3075 comes up (see attachment)

Any ideas from here??

Really looks like a Reference issue but being an MDE you can't fix. I have no explanation. Do you have all the SP's installed? I don't! I skipped SP1 for Office 2010 because of the issue, did you install that?

Now I've changed it to Access 2003, with no SP's installed, I have an issue but a different one. With regards to the date?

I don't know how to help you as you can't get to the errors that need to be reviewed. You could try installing SP1 and SP2 and see what that gets you...
