I had previously asked a question in the Query forum regarding dates being generated for reports where regardless of the due date, it would return a date of the first day of the previous month.

What I want to do now is set something up that does the following:

I have roughly 6 different reports, of those 6, 3 require a 5 month out deadline and 3 require a 1 month out deadline.

I have all reports in a combo box and for this example they are A, B, C, D, E and F.

Reports A-C should update an established field with a date 5 months before the report is due on the first of that month, so if a report was due on October 13th, it would automatically update for a report on May 1st. If the same person required Report D, instead of A, it would update to September 1st, and so on.

Easy? Please tell me it is.

if the range for a given report is always the same - then in the report open event, check todays date, determine the date range you need, requery the report record source, and away you go.

otherwise you need some extra data in the combo box to provide the date range you need - in which case that comes back to having a little table with that info driving the combo box - so you can set the no of months you need

both ways are quite simple, especially as you already have code to get the first day of the month.

TBH, even though you think you always want a 5-month, and 3-month date range, I would actually give users date pickers to pick the start and finish dates, to give you/them complete flexibility. A few more clicks/keypresses that way, so its up to you, really.

The date range will always be the same, but I need more guidance on how to do all this.

I know Access and am familiar with a lot of the functions, but some stuff is still a foreign language to me.

EDIT: I suppose I should specify that these aren't Access-generated reports, but actual paper reports. The dates are used simply to identify to my office when we should be be pinging an individual for their report.
