Document Number Generetion HelP!

Hello Friends.
I Am trying to Prepare a Invoice "DB" and we have a couple of different Documents we deal with, (EG: DC as in Dilevery Chalan and INV as in Invoice etc.,)

I need a help with Generating Doc No and save Ref as Example bellow

Problem : On Save We want to concatenate a text field (Cmb box) DocNo of the previous Similar Combination +1

Example (Desierd Result)
ID DocNo. Text REF
1 1 INV INV-1
2 2 INV INV-2
3 3 INV INV-3
4 1 DC DC-1
5 4 INV INV-4
6 2 DC Dc-2
7 5 INV INV-5
8 3 DC Dc-3
9 6 INV INV-6
10 7 INV INV-7

Mr RuralGuy, than you for the reference, and That method of concatenating and getting the result is fine. "dmax method.," but my problem is to generate a sequential number based on the combo box text and previous value of combo box text + 1 as mentioned in the example
do help me further.!
