DSum with between criteria

If it really isn't a formatting issue, then that is pretty concerning. From my experience, dates usually only screw up when a person either doesn't have the # signs when they're needed or the format is wrong, assuming they have proper syntax (ie. the compiler doesn't pop up with an error).

Leaving that aside for now, is rptReportMainscreen a report or a form? Everyone here has been assuming it's a form, and that's how we've been responding to you. But if it's a report like the naming suggests, you would be using a different approach. I've actually already mentioned how to do it in one of my previous posts in this thread. If it's a form, you might want to a) consider renaming it to reflect that and b) try doing it with a report, which wouldn't require you use DSum.

yes the rptReportMainScreen is a form. i know the naming is a bit of but im happy with it. i may change it eventually. i have tried everything from just #date# to Me.bla bla bla. i think the syntax is the problem with this DSum. i have other DSums in my database and they work flawlessly but as soon as i started with dates it went bad.

i have been using a seperate query and list boxes in my report but the database got very clumsy with queries every where so i am trying to irradicate them and put them either in the record source or by using such tools as DSum().

its not really that urgent as it will be an update. its just nagging.

ill spend some time on it tomorrow trying to get the formatting right and ill let you know if i am successful.

thanks
graham
