Hello.

I back up our databases every Friday to a Dvd.

Can I have a linked folder on our DVD backup in case we would like to look at the last current Mdb

Structure
C:\MsAccess\Database.Mdb

C:\MsAccess\Link\BackEnd.Mdb

Thank you

Paul

Not sure I grasp what you are asking...

Do you want to link to the DVD via your exisiting database? (Not a good idea) Or do you just want a Shortcut on your computer to a folder on the DVD drive?

Hello

In case our system crashes or to look at old records, I would like to be able to open the linked database on the DVD to read files.

Thanks

Um, still not really sure what you are asking. I gather why I'm just trying to determine what/where you are linking to. It sounds like you want a Command Button to flip between locations but I don't know which two locations because they both can't be on your C:\... System crashes would render both not available.

Thank you for trying to help me.

Other than restoring the DVD to a spare computer after a crash occurs, is there a way to view linked tables off of a DVD.

Paul

Yes, you can attach to the linked tables on the DVD though not the best option, it work in a pinch. You can even set it up to work via a Command Button but this should not be used on a regular basis.

You could set it to link to a usb thumb or hard drive... I was thinking the worst thing that could happen is if the mapping changed...
