Will this end the modern age?
Have you taken precaution for a mid-level one?
Within hours (Friday 9/12/2014) a large EMP from a Solar Flare will hit Canada. It isn't one of the big ones, but it is worth watching.
Given the current Solar Cycle, there is a 10% chance in the next few years of the large one described in the article. One that might even fry electronics at the transistor level.
The data from the 1800's was how they discovered solar flares induced EMP on wires. Telegraph wires generated sparks that started grass fires, caused batteries to explode and more.
It is no mistake that many countries decades ago funded space observations of the sun. These cycles and super cycles are somewhat predictable.
No country except Russia has a stockpile to replace the electrical grid transformers that literally melt. There is no electrical grid recovery plan if the larger one hits.

In preparation, I hate the though of having to drink warm beer in the post-EMP future. Damn you Sun!
