Enough is Enough

Actually, yes. I am feeling pretty tetchy right now. This outcome is about as bad as I could have imagined.

But Alisa and I have been on opposite sides of an issue before, and I thought we'd behaved fairly well towards one another. Given that I was the one being responded to, and having had some history of adversarial positions on some issues, I was concerned that Alisa might be thinking I had tried to sneakily attack her through the reputation feature. It isn't my style.

Wow Craig how could you read that into Alisa's comment. We are all getting a little tetchy aren't we.

I think it may be better to keep out of the non techie threads for a while.

Brian

Yes, people are on edge a bit after the goings on of the last week or so I guess. One thing I can say though, we've had more traffic through the 'cooler than we have for a while, even from those who think there shouldn't be a 'cooler any longer. :D

Geez, if all this had been going on back when we had the Creation/Evolution and Gun Crime threads, I may have been banned too for all I know.

I think that what would be more likely to return a positive tone to the forum, rather than closing the water cooler, would be to disable the ability for people to anonymously leave baseless and nasty comments on people's reputations.

As a FYI-

You could start a new thread in Site Suggestion about this.

In another vBulletin forum I frequent, veteran members are given the ability to see who left the reps.

Furthermore, the admins there encourage that if you get a rep you don't think you deserved, to PM the admins so they can remove the points and bop the offending member. I do not know if the leaders here would mind doing that, so best to ask them here (actually there in that Site Suggestion forum).

But on other hand, the same forum doesn't show the reputation at all on the thread view or even profile page, so it's private to each member to put lid on the silly reputation war.

HTH.

Thanks for the suggestions Banana.

I de-repped Alisa yesterday. I am not a coward and have not been hiding, nor did I say anything nasty, just stated the facts as I saw them, and de-repping doesn't allow you to NOT include a comment. Anything Alisa may have said about it, I haven't read because I have her on ignore. I was checking what everybody said yesterday, though. And I've read all of her postings in the technical areas, in fact, I almost repped her the other day for some clever advice.

Alisa, if you're interested in why, I'd be happy to debate it with you via PM. Otherwise, I feel there is no reason to bicker with each other in public when neither of us will ever concede that the other has any valid argument, seemingly.

How can i check my repuation please...
lemme see if anyone's been sneaking behind me :D

Click on "User CP" on navigation bar at the top of any page.

You should then see up to five rows of either green jelly or red jelly, post it was for, and comment on the center of screen.

Thanks Bonono :D....Is there an option i must to enable this. i don't have it (perhaps i don't see it)

Don't you feel better now that you have confessed?

Now for the next step, if you aren't a coward, and if you stand behind what you wrote, then why not post it in response to my post on the thread out in the open?

Or better yet, since you don't read any of my posts anyway, why not just leave me alone? Why are you so obsessed with negatively commenting on everything I write when you purport to not even read what I write in the first place?

Thank you to those of you who gave me positive rep to make me feel better - I do appreciate it. It's not that I care about the rep at all, I just didn't like the feeling of being anonymously attacked without being able to respond.

As a newcomer to all of this, it does strike me as strange that certain things don't stop or die. For example, the title of this thread (Enough is Enough) and yet it would seem that enough is not enough, eh?

I don't want to live in a world without irony. ;)

That, to me, sounds like a one-sided conversation if you're going to ignore her responses. :p

I'm happy to discuss anything civilly with anyone. And I don't ignore her because I don't like her, I ignore her to prevent me from publicly disagreeing with her every time she posts (my fault, not hers) and committing myself to a flame war I don't have time for. We are very different. I'm sure she's very nice and I'd love to sit and debate her over coffee.

It's nothing to be ashamed of George, I ignore my wife all the time :D

And you're still married?

Of course, that may be why you're still married. If you bugged your wife all the time she may get fed up with you. ;)
