I am hoping to have some guidance as we are using Access database for timekeeping and the creator has moved on. I have a user using a version read, write, however a message has appeared. When I use the App I have for editing the detail is errored out. Where do I look to find the data entry which has resulted in this error please?

Hi. Welcome to AWF!

First you could try is comment out any error handlers to find the root cause of the error message. Just a thought...

By way of explanation, the thing in the DB called "WoodTimesheet" lists a bunch of places from which to get data. The possible places are a simple data field, a control on a form, or a property of an object that SQL can see (but that latter category is very limited.)

IF this database has been working but now suddenly is not, then something changed. Databases don't "change their minds." They HAVE them changed by some action. If you can do a copy/paste of the SQL statement that is WoodTimesheet, perhaps we can make some suggestions on where to look.

It IS possible that you have developed this problem thanks to a bug induced by a recent Microsoft patch. While not an everyday occurrence, it HAS been known to happen. I would HOPE that the DB's creator left notes. But somehow based on the tone of your question, maybe not.

Thank you for your response, however the timesheet is locked and as an Administrator there is no option to unlock as the submission record is missing which is a problem as well. So I need to 'unlock' in order to comment out the input. Thank you.

If this "submission" record is missing and is somehow a contributor to that timesheet, that error is probably not coincidental. I don't need to tell you that you were skating on thin ice, particularly if this app is important to your business. If the original DB creator is available for contract, just be sure that s/he leaves you an unlocked copy and some instructions.
