Hello, I'm using Access 2000 and when I try to import an Excel file Access crashes.
While digging through the error messages I see a listing with an exception error and the System Information says "Windows NT 5.1" even though I'm running on Windows XP. -
Anyone else seen this problem? Any ideas would be welcome, thanks.

excel import crash

some suggestions.

ensure the access file is compacted and repaired before the import.

test importing on a test excel file to ensure it's not the excel file itself.

are you importing using the menu, a macro or vba code?

windows xp is based on windows nt which is derived from os2. I.e. they are all bastardised from other operating systems.

Crash how?

Is Access freezing? If so, try this:

- Search My Computer for the file Accwiz.dll
- There may be several, so look for the most recent version (Right click, go to properties, pick the one with the highest version number) and note the path of where this .dll sits on My Computer
- Go to Run in the start menu and type

regsvr "pathofdll"\Accwiz.dll

After you run this, reboot MS Access and try the import again.

For some reson this problem occasionally occurs when you upgrade to Access 2000, I have no idea why.
