My update query updates a currency field by subtracting £5.00.

The criteria is based on a customer's date of birth field, and I use:

<#31/12/1950#

I have also tried YY/MM/DD.

Basically, it works, but if a customer has a DOB on any date/month in 1950, it wont, and that makes no sense.

Any idea why this criteria would exclude these dates? (I've also tried numerous other ones, including <Date()-23740

you have to use the US format - <#12/31/1950#
or you could try

<CDate("31/12/1950")

Thank you.

I like the second one, that will go into my very limited and basic toolbox of Access techniques. Your time is sincerely appreciated.

I'd like to add that when I was switching about with the above criteria, I realised that the date of birth field that I have put my criteria in is populated by another query (I don't have to tell a moderator that I don't put any DOBs in the appointment table/form as I already have them in stylist/customer tables).

I then realised that the critera for the DOBs to be returned in the second query was <#01/01/1950# - THAT's why it wasn't working, my update query was only having access to <1950 dates. Sorry Mod!
