Fires in Oklahoma - Is MrsGorilla OK

:D Seriously, they did a story on the news a couple of nights ago about the police and also the fire marshalls making traffic stops and writing tickets to people that they catch tossing cigarettes out the window.
Eh...it's a start, I guess. :p :D Can't they at least follow the ticket up with a red stamp to the forehead that says, "Stupid A$$hole" or something?

Yes, it's only a start ;) , but they are assigning steep fines. I have to imagine it must be irritating to pay $220 for the pleasure of throwing your cigarette out the window. :D

But let's face it, throwing your fag end out of the car window is a disgusting habbit anyway, with the obvious fire risks at the moment I would have thought $1000 might be more appropriate

Or how about having the person arrested for reckless endangerment? Works for me.

Wow, something Rich and Kraj and I all agree on. :D Armageddon must be at hand.

Seriously though, I hate to see people throwing cigarettes out the window too. It's just too bad it took a severe drought, threat of fires, and a statewide burn ban to make it against the law. But it is now, so hopefully it will stop the majority of people from doing it. The problem now will be catching those in the act so they can write them a ticket.

Or they could pay me to pick 'em off with my .270 ;)

I would have thought the pleasure you'd derive from such an act would suffice

Nah, The pleasure would be incidental, unless they tossed Plymouth fag butts...;)

It's been worst in Texas and Oklahoma because of the drought we've been facing for the past year. There is very little humidity in the air right now and everything is very dry. Our rainfall totals were somewhere between 12-22 inches below normal for last year depending on the area. So, it's been the driest year in Oklahoma since 1921, the "dust bowl" days. I'm not sure how other states are doing, although the further West you go I don't think it is as much of an issue because those states got plenty of rainfall from the hurricane season.

This reminds me of 1993 (I think?) when the Mississippi flooded over from all the excessive rainfall and here in northern Indiana at that time we were experiencing a severe drought that year and only saw several days of sporadic light rain the entire summer. That was a bad year...all those selfish Mississippi river states took all the rain for themselves.

I know. It seems like it was just 3-4 years ago when we were getting so much rain the ground was so saturated it was having trouble soaking it all up. Now it's so dry that the foundations under a lot of houses are cracking due to the dryness and the expansion/contraction of the soil from temperature swings we've been having. Oh, well.

Such is life in the midwest. Most people don't realize it, but the great plains region has one of the harshest climates in the world - not because of the extremity but because of the wide variation.

Hurray! We got some rain last night and some snow this morning! I don't know how much it will help matters in the long run, but at least we have some moisture on the ground. :)

I'm in a VB .NET class all this week so my posts will probably be limited. :(
