this gives me this results when I want to send a e-mail and does not work

if I change it to this it works ok

=[E-mail Address]

can you please tell me the difference as I got this from the northwind database

Yeah, not sure what the extra bracketing is for unless display purposes only. And that would be the difference. The first line you posted shows the eMail address and then displays again putting brackets around the second eMail address while the second line simply refers to the eMail address.

Can't answer as to why it was done like that as not much in the Northwind database makes much sense to me.
