Hi All,

For access 03.

Since I wasn't sure if my question was being answered in my google searches, I figured I'd run it by this audience.

My problem is my text data type field in my linked table can only store 255 Characters and that isn't enough.

I believe Memo fields in a table can hold more? Simply, is this true or not???

Thank you.

note that you cannot sort a memo type

Thank you guys, all i needed.

I set it up and worked as advertised. I only asked here first because I was dealing with a linked table of about 30 fields and I didn't want to set of the database again if the memo change wasnt a solution.

Be careful too, when you go to export memo fields (or any field over 255 bytes) to Excel. There are several work-arounds to get the data exported.

but note that generally changing from text to memo is non-destructive anyway, ots useful if you find you need longer notes than a text field offers

going the other way is possible, but access will warn you as you can lose data, as memo fields wil lbe truncated to 255 chars max
