I know how to create the MDE file, and it opens fine on my PC when accessed via our network and on our Exchange server. But my colleague, for whom this was created, in large part, cannot open it. The icon doesn't even really show up. What needs to be done on the server or on her machine to facilitate this? I'm using Access 2007 to build the database. She does not have Access on her PC, but from my experience, that's the whole point of an MDE.

Thanks

An MDE still requires Access to be installed to run. There is no way to run any type of Access file without Access, and there is no native way to create an executable file that does not require Access. There is a free runtime version of Access 2007 available on the MS website, so I would download/install that for the user.

Well that explains that. I was under a wrong assumption, apparently. I've sent her the link to download the runtime version so we'll see if that fixes the problem. Much thanks!

No problem, hope it helps. I use that runtime version for users all the time.
