Any ideas why my chart is extending too far to the right on a certain select computer? This is NOT a consistent problem. The report/chart has proved very informative on 99 out of 100 computers. Normally, all data and all columns automatically size themselves and appear on a SINGLE page in the landscape layout. It is just this one computer that I am having problems with. This computer is running Windows XP and the database in an Access XP .mde database.

Symptoms

In the print preview, the report still indicates that it is a one(1) page report. However, in both the Print Preview and when the report is printed off, the number of columns in the chart expands beyond the visible borders on the report. This does not mean that there is a second page. Instead, it looks like the Chart BACKGROUND stretches beyond the margins of the report and the number of Chart Columns is 'clipped'.

I have tried...

- setting the orientation to landscape;
- setting both the "Can Grow" and "Can Shrink" properties to NO in the Details section of the Report;
- ensured there is plenty of left and right hand margin space on the report;
- ensured that the correct printer driver is set on these specific computers.

This is not a problem on any of the hundred other computers (98 all the way to XP) that I have installed this application on.

All suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks

Pat

Hi. Yes I have. Both are exactly the same computers, with the same software loaded, and they share the same printer.

Have you tried turning off the AutoName correct feature, it's known to cause problems

I will try that. I also was searching for an answer on the Microsoft Access Newsgroups and one user suggested altering the 'Size Mode' of the Chart from 'Clip' to 'Stretch'. However, I found the current setting on the chart is 'stretch'.

Thanks for your help.

Hello!

I am having the same problem at the moment. What is strange is that it happened all of a sudden to new charts I am trying to create, and also affected existing charts as well.

I have tried all of the aove and cant fix it. I have had it happen a while ago (same machine), but from memory, it went away on its own!! It happened (or at least became obvious) soon after I tried to do a chart with probably way too many data points.

The only way I can find around it is to go into the design view of the chart and squish up the plot area so it doesnt extend past the graph object border on printing and review.

Any pointers would be greatfully recieved.

Cheers

Resizing of Chart or Graph

I am still experiencing the problem, although to a lesser degree. I have found that the problem is more persistent if I have the chart expanded too far onto the page. Double-click on the actual chart. Then click on the chart background and size it considerably smaller than the width of the chart itself. Save, and the problem is less pronounced.

Hope it helps.

Report size

Dont know if this will help but I have found that the default paper size in the printer properties does affect / overide some of access settings. I tend to set my reports onto A4 but most printers are defaulted to letter setting them to A4 in all the options has solved my problems
