Hope someone can shed some light on this one.
I have just converted the backend of a secured 97 database to 2003, it was secured using an mda.
Now that its in 2003 I have tinkered about with permissions so that I am able to rerun the User Level Security Wizard to create a new mdw file for my users to logon.
My new database is opening now, via a shortcut using the new mdw created. However the permissions applied to groups in this mdw don't seem to be cascading down to the users...
I have added a couple of users into a group called Full Data Users and given this group permission to read, update, insert, delete etc across all the database objects but when i logon as them to test - they can't update the data?

Perhaps this is something to do with security being ran before, or maybe I am just missing something? Any suggestions appreciated!

Just to be clear, though... did you re-create the workgroup? If you did, did you use identical Workgroup ID *and* Group ID when you re-created the users?

Banana,

Not recreate but started from scratch to create a new one as the old one was an .mda file, if the workgroup ID is entered during the wizard then no I didn't use the same one and the same for the group ID - however I have created different group names for this new version...
When I logon I can update the database fine...its my users I have added in afterwards that aren't working...

Thanks for the clarification.

Did you create the groups then add the users to the group afterward?

I'm sorry but I'm a bit rusty on Access security, I can only say that with several steps involved, it's quite easy to miss a crucial step. Maybe if you read this and try again, you may be able to address the issues. That guide has worked for me very well.

HTH.
