I have been building an application for months in Access 2002. The Boss came in yesterday with Access 2003, to be installed on 5 machines that will be using the application. Do you forsee any problems with my application running under 2002 on some machines/2003 on the rest ???? Would my "master files" on the network need to be 2002 or 2003??

You can run the 2002 db on the 2003 PCs. To protect yourself [and the data] you need to split the db so that each user has their own front end installed on their hard drive and the front end is linked to the back end. That will also prevent any problems if the 2003 users convert their db to the 2003 file format. Just ensure that the 2003 users never open the 2002 back end for the odds of one of them converting it to 2003 are high and then the 2002 users will not be able to link to the converted 2003 back end since their front end is a 2002 db. Confused yet?

I think I get it....lol
I will keep the master files in 2002 on the server, since both versions should be able to access it. The users will only be retrieving and appending data, and should never be opening the "master" db per say....

thanks so much for the quick response.....
