I want to install use this tool: http://www.btabdevelopment.com/main/MyFreeAccessTools/tabid/78/Default.aspx

But the instructions first say to make the db an mde. I tried to do this but get an eror saying that it cannot make an mde file because the max number of unique tableID's is reached. I've got about 50 tables in the db, with a few of them having a couple of million records (in a SQL db). Anyone know how to correct this and make a successful mde?

Moreover, has anyone used the tool I mentioned above? Is it absolutely necessary to make the db an mde before installing?

Thanks for the guidance!

I'm going to guess that the tool will work with either an .mdb or .mde so you can try it. As with anything - make a backup or two or twelve first.

Your problem is most likely that you have gone far too long without compacting. If a compact and repair doesn't fix the problem, try creating a new empty database and importing all objects into it.

Yes, that is true - it should work with

mdb, mde, accdb, or accde

But, I don't know that it would work with an ADP (I'm wondering if that is what you have as you said it was a SQL database).

but definitely follow Pat's instructions.
