:banghead:Hi,

I ahve no idea where to start on this one so I am wondering if anyone could help me with a task that I have?

I have a list of names that I need to split down and allocate to days (Work Roster) this is a very time consuming and mundane task that i have each month so am looking to automate this.

i need to allocate 4 names to each day of the month.

if anyone knows of a way that i can get Access to simplify this task for me will be hugely grateful.

In an ideal world i would have something to start with, but in this instance all i have is a table with my names and i cant get my head around how i can get a module or Macro to sort the date as i wish.

thank you again and i look forward to your help.

regards

We need to know how you do this manually now.
We have no idea how you select the names for what dates.

Dale,

Thank you for your reply.

currently i use Excel and manually type (copy and paste) the names into the fields untill such time as i have allocated four names to each day and filled each day of the month.

this is why it is mundane and time consuming.

Thanks bluenose.
However you have not told us anything about how the decisions are made.
How do you know who goes in what time period.

The complete process would be helpful.

ok,

so i will have a list of names available to me. i would store them all in one place.

i can use any name on any day but need to be fair to all names. so i would not wish to put the same name on every saturday for example.

each name covers a 24 hour period so for the purpose of allocation the names are allocated to the:

1st, 2nd, 3rd etc etc

there really is nothing more to it than this.

in an ideal word, i would like to have all my names stored in a table and then a MACRO or module would pull the names and populate a report or indeed export to .CSV

hope this helps?

Will the names remain the same? Do they change from month to month?
Will every day in the month need to be covered?
How many names?
How about holidays?
EDIT: Vacations?
Requested days off?
Just a head thinking here.

Dale, the names will change each month and the quantity of name will vary too. (Increase / Decrease)

each day of the month will need to be covered and there is no exceptions for holidays, bank holidays etc.

I assume the dates should not be sequential.
The employee should have a day off before working again.

yes, this is correct person number one should not be assigned again until everyone else in the list have been allocated once also. this will ensure that no one person is allocated on the roster two days in a row.

Thank you Dale. That is A2003. It's past my bed time, so I will try to come back to this tomorrow.
