I am a newbie to access and have recently been trying to develop a database for a small villa rental company. The problem being that I have spent ages trying to learn what the hell I am supposed to be doing and now have somehow password protected the whole thing.

Everytime I log in I get a popup window asking for a password. Firstly how on earth did I manage to password protect the thing and secondly is there anything I can do?? I really do not want to have to start all over again!

Thanks in advance!

Hold down shift while opening the database, the go check what nonsense you have in your startup options.

/me prays you didn't disable the shift button.

Errr it appears that I did disable the shift button as it does not appear to make a difference!!! By your reaction that is a bad thing!!?

Please don't tell me I have to start again.

thx

Create a new .mdb and import all the stuff from the old one...

It still asks for the password! Is there anything else I can try?!

Thanks for your help guys.

I have looked for a password crack but it seems you have to pay for them, when I am not even sure if that is the soloution.

It's hard to believe that you could have set a password and not know that you even did it. Could it be that you joined a workgroup so you could open a different database? If that is what you did, you can get yourself back to "unsecured" (no Access db is truely "unsecured". It's just that when they are secured with the system.mdb, they act like they are "unsecured".), by joining system.mdw again.

If its just a db password and not related to database security passwords try http://www.shatterock.com. They have a free db password sniffer that is extremely easy to use.Of course you should only use it for databases that you own.
