Welcome to the forum.
At first glance, there are many similarities between Access and Excel, especially if you only look at tables. However, as you have probably already discovered, there are more differences between Access and Excel than similarities. The most important difference is that Excel can only be a "flat" type file while Access is a "relational" database. Hopefully visiting and hanging around here in the forum will help with some of the confusion.
