Question How do i open in exclusive mode?

hi, i'm a new access user and i'm trying to collect data via outlook by sending blank forms out and collecting the data automatically from the replies.

however access tells me that because i am not open in exclusive mode the automatic colecting of data will fail.

how do i open in this mode?

When you navigate to an mdb to open you normally locate it in the folder and double click on it, however, hightlight it and use the down arrow on the open button to select Open Exclusively.

OK I cannot find anywhere the REASON for "exclusive mode" ... other than you have to invoke it in so you can link a sharepoint list to Access.

What the heck is "exclusive mode" and why does it exist?

Any MS programmers out there wish to share knowledge ... ??
