How to make a good popup

Hi,

ive had this for ages and cannot see how the pop up messages linked to the buttons work. Could anyone elaborate in more detail please?

im looking for something just like this on a button to offer options.

customise menus, and then select shortcut menus

there are two custom short cut menus, which contain all these commands.

instead of being hard coded to the form/command button as right-click short cut menus, they are instantiated in the comaand button clicks, and therefore work in response to the normal button click

I think thats what it does - although I didn't realise you could do that.

I looked at a couple and I think they probably all call the various macros.

probably why the app title is "popup magic"!

couldnt actually find customise menus in 2007, only customise QAT.....

wondered how they got the icons on the menu as i couldnt see a reference to them unless i missed it?

not sure if/how you would do this with A2007 ribbons

these are A2003 and earlier short-cut menus.

Do you have A2003 to look at them?

No im afraid i dont. Well, i do have my old version on disc but i got really annoyed with a continuous 'micro$oft setup screen' appearing eveytime i switched app so i removed it for good.

that's what it does - switching between A2003 and A2007 causes each to reinstall.

I still mainly work in A2003 - I have now finally stopped using A97, for the most part after many years.

And I bought A2010, but haven't used it yet.

I don't know if you can design A2003 menus in A2007. I suspect not.

with respect to the icons, you can add icons to an A2003 menu, from a number of avaiable options - or even design your own.

To edit, create or delete context menus in 2007 you can try one of the following:

* Do it in code:

* Create it in the old version then import it into the new version.

OR

* Change it in the old version then convert the db back to the new version.

They are both table driven and expose the method of calling functions from a popup.
Both can be easily changed to operate from a command button Left Click.

If they don’t work in > A2003 then I don’t know.

I've run Chris' files in Access 2010 and Access 2013 and they work very well in both iterations.

I still prefer doing Menus as Forms - no problem with upgrading.
