My users do not have MS Access installed on their machines. I have placed my mdb on a server, so that it can convenient the users to access.

I have installed runtime access for my users on their machine. However, my users are still unable to launch my database.

The following error were encountered, refer to attachment, 'Open_Error.JPG'.

I am requesting the user to use a shortcut link to open the database. The target to open is ,"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE" "P:\ABC\ABC.mdb" /WRKGRP "P:\ABC\ABC_security.mdw".

I suspect that MS Access needs to be installed in order to run.

Question: How can I allow the users to open my database without installing MS Access?

TIA,
Dovey

Try creating a small non-sense access db and just double clicking that at your users to confirm that Runtime Access has been installed.

The message says, "cannot find MSAccess.exe" ... I do not know anything about runtime, but are you sure runtime is using the same exe name?

The runtime installation should have installed the MSACCESS.EXE file on their computer. Do a file search and see where the install placed the MSACCESS.EXE file. Then adjust your shortcut properties for the correct location.

Dear ghudson,

It works perfectly! after I searched for the msaccess.exe in C drive. My users can access my database now.

Thanks a lot!
