Just a quick note, i would like to know if anybody has come across any good internet site for download of icons ideally free ones.

It depends on which type of icons you want.If you need icons for your database,you will get frustrated if you search the internet for Icons.
What i do is to get and install robust application programs like ORACLE,ARCGIS,SQL Server then get the icons from thier installation files or i get executables and just extract icons. There are many freelance Icon Extracters on the net.
