I hope somone can help me with the following problem as I have tried to work it out on my own but to no evail:

I have a a table in my database that holds contact details on training providers . I then have another table that contains a list of occupational areas that these providers can deliver training in (yes/no). What I would like to do and I dont know if the structure as it stands is correct would be to have a form that I can select a provider name and then return all occuaptional areas that the specified provider delivers.

I hope this makes sense and that someone out there can help.

Yours hoping

You could create a form to show all your providers details then create a subform to show the occupational areas. You would then have a combo box to select provider name and on click the results would be displayed. If you need any help with this post back and I'll see if I can dig out a sample from one of my dbs.

Thanks for your post... I have tried using a subform but It is not giving me the desired effect. Because each occupational area is a yes/no field the difficulty I am having is only displaying the areas that apply to that provider. for example...if I select provider A I am getting the list of all occupational areas with the ones that they deliver ticked, which is fine but it mean that the user has to scroll along and remember which areas a provider delivers. Ideally I would like to return only the areas that are Yes in a simple to read format. I know its something to do with the query but I dont know what!!!

Hope this makes sense. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

so in other words you only want to see the areas the provider does deliver to when they are chosen? I have three samples of limiting lists based on two combos ie combo 2 would only show results relating to value selected in combo 1 but as you are using a check box to define whether they deliver to an area or not would be slightly different. What do you have in the query at the moment?

Yes hayley that is exactly what I would like it to return, the query at the moment is the part I am stuck with, there are about 60 occuaptional areas in total, but the most anyone provider deliver is 20-25, I take it I have to use to (or) but i cant suss it. Could you give me some idea of how I should go about creating this query, sorry if Im sounding a little slow here but this is a new one to me.

Ta muchly

Do you want me to forward you the examples I have? I've never used a tick box to do this before but I am willing to take a look at what you have.

email sent

Hi Andy

I've sent the samples to your email, if you're still struggling just email me again and I'll take a look for you.
