Import Problem

Hi,

i have an ecxel sheet witch contains 2 collums with dates. In Ecxel all dates look good, but when i try to import it to access (via the build in funktion "get external data" ) some of the dates change to numbers.

Any one an idea how i could solve that?

Excel stores dates as a number, even though you can see a date format, hence when exporting it appears as a number in access.

If the date was written in as a text string originally in Excel, then access will pull it in as a text string and you can change the field type to date at your leisure.

So, when you import into access choose date/time field type or just pull it in as originally and then set the field types to date/time in the table design view.

thanks for that hint,

but the strange thing is that some of the fileds are okay and some not. Some show even after importing a date, the others don't and i can not change the field type when importing

alright.. thanks for the hint i fixed it with pasting the ecxeldata first in an txt file and then importet that one...
