I've done some searches prior to posting here, but came up with very little. I am having trouble trying to import a text file into Access. I get the error message "There is no object in this control." When I click OK, a messed-up dialog box comes up and when I click Next > a message comes up saying "The expression you entered refers to an object that is closed or doesn't exist."

Are there some ActiveX controls or references I have to fix?

Thanks
Nick

I have seen the first error message when a required library has not been installed. In my case it was commdlg.ocx, (common dialog library)but it is impossible to say what it might be in your case without knowing more about the application itself. Anyway, you don't say what type of text file it is or how you are trying to import it, so more detail is needed.

Ok, I can either create a new database, or use an existing one, and in the Database window, I'll go to New when in the Tables section, I choose Import Table. I am then prompted to choose a file. I will change my Files of Type to *.txt, *.csv, *.tab, *.asc, and choose the text file.

The text file is non-delimited text that has columns of fixed with that I will determine through the Import process (if it works). Any other thoughts? Oh, and under ActiveX controls, the COMDLG32.OCX file is listed as registered...
