Important notice from Micro$oft's Knowledge Base:

Code:
When you open or are using a Microsoft Office Access database on a computer that is running Windows Vista, you may encounter one or more of the following issues:
• Access appears to stop responding.
• Access responds very slowly.
• Access exits unexpectedly or crashes.
For the complete article and possible work arounds goto:

I haven't experienced any of these symptoms with A2007 or A2K usine Vista Buiness.

I think all of those can happen with any OS. Also, did you post this in every Access forum or just in Forms? General or FAQS would've been a better place.

I'm glad to hear it, llkhoutx! Unfortunately enough other people have had problems that MS has done a KB article on it! Eventually, I suspect, they'll gather enough data to figure out why some users are affected while others aren't.

To KidRobot; no, I haven't posted elsewhere, for the simple reason that I only ever come to this portion of the forum, but I'll do that now! Good idea!

I'm going to temporarily place this as a sticky thread.

Good idea, Bob! It's amazing, since I found this a couple of days ago, I've seen 3-4 posts a day on various forums with people having trouble. It doesn't appear to be any particular version of Access. You'd think Microsoft could at least make sure that their own software was compatible with Vista!

That would require them to admit they are capable of error.

I bought a Microsoft Blue Tooth keyboard and mouse. Popped in the CD and got an immediate message that CD was not compatible with Vista. I downloaded new drivers, but couldn't get keyboard installed. Mouse ok. Microsoft Help around the world - India - took control of my PC and got the keyboard working in about 30 minutes.

Pitiful release in my opinion.

It's hard for us to remember sometimes that the XP release had about alot of the same issues when moving from Win98 to XP, until they came out with SP1.

Vista and Access Solution Located!

Hello,

I had this problem with Vista all versions. Especially when using a split database over a LAN. My setup was a Workgroup sharing one BE and 10 FE's.

I located a gem of a fix for now. Once I did this on all workstations everything worked perfectly and as expected. So far I have not experienced any negative results.

The full thread of this solution can be found at;

This is a BUG in Vista. The current "work around" is to add a registry key and all is well:

Run regedit and find the path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameter s

add a DWORK (32-bit) key with a value of zero
Name the Key = "SMB2"
