Please don't laugh but we're attempting to do an enterprise wide upgrade from NT / office 97 to XP / office 2003, and we're having problems installing Access 97 onto an XP machine with Office 2003 installed.

We can get 90% of it working, but its little things like TransferSpreadsheet only supports upto Excel97, but as the machine knows nothing about Excel97 we get an ISAM error.

I've seen a post recommending that I register
regsvr32.exe,mstext35.dll,msexcl35.dll,msxbase.dll,msltus35.dll

But I'm worried that there will still be other functionallity missing.

Has one been through this before and could give pointers?

save your excel shhets as csv's - they will import into access 97

or save them in as excel 97 etc

this should all work

perhaps you didnt install all the access import facilities

I've had dual installs of Office 97 and Office 2003, the issue we had was that 97 had to be installed first.

In my previous job that approach was what we used.

However we don't need word and excel, so a full office 97 install isn't applicable. We just need enough so that all features of Access 97 work on a XP OS with Office 2003.

I think that copying the ISAM dll's and registering them, might be it

at least I can't think of anything else that you could do in access that would require a 3rd party app/dll. Most other things would be via code and references, which isn't an issue.
