I have a database that uses quite a lot of outside sources. There are multiple users and each one of us now are getting the invalid argument error. When we received it before it was because the DB was huge. It has since been made smaller. What are other reasons as to why we are getting this error again? We have to get out of the database, compact it and then go back in in order to do anything with it.

Please help! Thank you.

Need more info. Where exactly are you getting this error? Is it after data entry? Is it when opening a specific object?

It varies when the argument comes up. It has been when running a macro to update the DB. It always occurs at one certain query. Other times it occurs when trying to enter data into a form. Does it depend on what is happening when it occurs?

Would you please elaborate? What should I look at? I know that the database is still very complicated. Is is too large that Access gets "confused" or something?

My "routine" is a scheduler that runs an auto exec macro. There are around 60 seperate queries that update information ultimately put into a different database for others to use. Once the update gets to around the 50th query is when the invalid argument comes up. I have to close down the DB in order to compact it and then open it back up so that I can go back in, re run that query and finish our the macro manually.

The other case is when people are in the different DB updating information like insurance company names addresses, or changing a field from YES to NO. They also have to close down so the DB can compact and then go back in and proceed with the change.

I hope this helps. feel free to email me at shidlerjillm@johndeere.com
