When ever I want to be particularly charming I always use my Texas voice, living close to Washington DC it is very effective.
Whys that then? because GWB is from Connecticut?

Col,

No not at all, my Texas accent is much different then GWBs (we wonder if maybe a horse kicked him when he was young).

Americans think ALL accents that are different then their own are interesting and charming. Maybe not New York accents I don’t think people think of them as one of the more charming sounds, but still interesting.

It’s fun to listen to accents, unless you’re in a hurry at the 711.

I'm not very good at this but it's pronounced connettiket less emphasis on the ut part

.

I like the Jewish New York accent, like Joan Rivers - she's really funny, and I believe she's born in America;) :D

Whats 711? a bus or train?

I'm not going to go on about pronounciation of Connecticut because we have weird places here pronounced nothing like they are spelt.

A 711’s a convenience store, (a small suburban grocery store, usually located on busy streets), where you can get a cup of coffee or maybe some gas (petrol).

Mostly the only people that can afford to work in them are immigrants. Some of them can’t speak English so their accents, while quaint and charming, are very annoying when it interferes with getting back on the road.

Your probably right, but they’re actually part of the USA they (Mexico-ED) just don’t know it yet.

I thought from other posters that the takeover was happening the other way, mind you they are only reclaiming what was stolen from them in the 19th century

Thanks JJ, I had honestly never heard of that. Are they all across the USA - these 711 shops, like Walmart or McDonalds? Why are they called 711?

The original 711 was built in Texas at a time when stores followed the blue laws and opened at 9 and closed at 5 or 6 in the evening.

The 711 opened at 7 and closed at 11 pm. Now they are almost all open 24 hrs 365 days a year.

At one time there were over 7000 of them. Recently (the last 20 years) other chains have gained national prominence.

Circle K
Wawa
Sheetz

They have grown in size and mostly now all of the major gas stations are also convenience stores.

In my line of work, they are all called the same thing: "Stop-N-Rob". :D :D
